Egyptian Collection - "Tutankhamum" - hunting hippopotamus.
Tutankhamum (1343-1325 BC), Egyptian pharaoh of the 18th dynasty. He became pharaoh at the age of 8 and ruled until his death at the age of 19. This statue showing him standing on a papyrus boat with his hands holding a harpoon ready to throw, portraying a god fighting against evil to preserve a universal order. As the hippopotamus was seen as evil and dangerous, the king harpooning a hippo was seen as a powerful allegory of order victorious over chaos.
Made of fine quality resin and hand painted.
